A Lesson About Following Through on Promises

This week I took on a client job that was, to be honest, frustrating. Nevertheless, there are certain principles in life I believe are important to stick to. Number one is to show class and maintain composure as often as possible. As a band officer, you learn how to suck it up and do what needs to be done…

I received a compliment today that kind of shocked me. Before I tell you why I was so surprised, let me share it with you:

You got done in 4 days what took somebody else 8 weeks!

A project that feels like it’s been stressing me out for a month really only took four days! This assignment forced me to think of ways to achieve effects I don’t normally put into my designs. It also caused me a great deal of frustration when solutions simply refused to work. But can you imagine if I’d just thrown in the towel after four days and admitted defeat?

Hard times are over before you know it.

Not only did I manage to help a nice guy get his website running and presentable, I actually did it in record time. Even though the pace of a project may feel slow, or like you’re beating your head against a wall, you have to follow through. Looking back on it, you’ll be impressed with yourself.

I know I am. I also know that I definitely need to stick to my conviction not to work past 8pm anymore…ugh.
